Tinubu Pledges Enhanced Welfare, Support for Armed Forces

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reassured the Armed Forces and Intelligence agencies of his administration’s commitment to their welfare, administrative needs, and logistical support.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) Headquarters in Abuja yesterday, Tinubu, represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, emphasized the government’s dedication to enhancing the productivity and effectiveness of these agencies.
“I assure you, along with the entire armed forces of Nigeria, that I will sustain the provision of welfare, training, and other administrative and logistics requirements to enhance your productivity and enable you to carry out your mandate,” President Tinubu stated.
Tinubu commended the past and present leadership of the DIA for completing the new headquarters, expressing confidence that the facility would foster innovations in intelligence gathering, thereby enhancing national security.
“Out of this magnificent office structure shall
emerge innovations and creativity in the field of intelligence gathering that would keep Nigeria ahead of its foes and make our country and people safer,” he said.
Reflecting on his administration’s priorities since assuming office a year ago, Tinubu highlighted the importance of national security and the various threats facing Nigeria.
“Our country is bedevilled by myriads of security challenges across the six geo-political zones. We are not only faced by physical threats but also economic and digital threats,” he noted, underscoring the significant role of the DIA in addressing these challenges.
Emphasizing the government’s comprehensive approach to security, Tinubu mentioned the deployment of armed forces across all 36 states to assist civil authorities and the need to counter digital threats with advanced technologies.
“You have to contend with behind your computers, using if necessary AI, which enables our military to know the position of our enemies or the games they are up to,” he said.
Tinubu concluded by reaffirming the resilience and dedication of Nigerians in the face of adversity, stating, “The underlying spirit of Nigerians cannot and will never yield to forces of darkness. You have all left me in no doubt that you have no other higher obligations than to serve this nation of ours.”
