Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has expressed his condolences to the family of the late Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 81 after a brief illness.
Soludo honored Iwuanyanwu as a mentor and an exemplary leader whose contributions to Nigeria’s socio-economic development were immense.
In a statement by his chief press secretary, Christian Aburime, Soludo described Iwuanyanwu as a personal mentor and a great supporter. “Chief Iwuanyanwu’s life and wise counsel were a tribute to exceptional leadership, patriotism, and steadfast dedication to the progress of the Igbo nation and Nigeria as a country,” the statement read.
Soludo highlighted Iwuanyanwu’s entrepreneurial spirit and philanthropic efforts, noting his legacy as the publisher of Champion Newspapers and owner of several other businesses. “His contributions to the socio-economic development of Nigeria are immeasurable,” Soludo emphasized.
The governor also reminisced about Iwuanyanwu’s significant role as chairman of the planning committee of Ohanaeze, a position Soludo himself once held. As the 11th President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Iwuanyanwu provided exemplary leadership, fostering unity and championing the interests of Ndigbo while building bridges of peace across Nigeria.
