The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the appointment of four nominees to the Police Service Commission (PSC) following President Bola Tinubu’s request.
The confirmation followed a report presented by the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, chaired by Senator Madori Abdulhamid (Jigawa East). Tinubu’s nomination request, sent in November 2024, was made in line with Section 154(1) of the 1999 Constitution.
During the deliberations, Senator Abdulhamid urged lawmakers to approve the nominees, citing their competence and thorough screening. Senator Simon Lalong (Plateau Central) also commended their professionalism and integrity, emphasizing their potential to enhance policing in Nigeria.
With no objections raised, Senate President Godswill Akpabio resolved the chamber into the Committee of the Whole, after which the nominees were unanimously confirmed.
The newly appointed PSC members are:
- Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (Retired)
- Abdulfatah Mohammed
- DIG Uba Ringim (Retired)
- Justice Christine I. Dabup (Retired)
