The House of Representatives has referred a motion seeking to allow petroleum marketers to lift Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) directly from the Dangote Refinery to a joint national assembly ad hoc committee.
The motion, raised by Honourable Oboku Oforji, argued that the establishment of the Dangote Refinery has set Nigeria on a path towards self-sufficiency in PMS production. He expressed concerns over the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s (NNPCL) insistence on being the sole lifter of PMS from the refinery, describing it as greed, especially after the NNPCL failed to maintain the nation’s refineries.
Honourable Oboku also called on the House to mandate the NNPCL to disclose the price at which it sells crude to Dangote Refinery and urged the refinery to reveal the price at which it sells PMS back to the NNPCL.
