PTAD, ICPC Partner to Tackle Corruption in Pension Scheme

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the fight against corruption in the administration of the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).

The MoU, signed by PTAD Executive Secretary, Tolulope Odunaiya, and ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu (SAN), provides a framework for collaboration in monitoring, investigating, and preventing corrupt practices within the pension system.

ICPC Chairman, Dr. Aliyu, described the partnership as a strong step toward safeguarding pensioners’ welfare.
“By combining PTAD’s robust and increasingly digitised database with the investigative and prosecutorial powers of the ICPC, we are creating a seamless and powerful force,” he said, adding that the initiative reflects a shared commitment to good governance, accountability, and protection of citizens from fraudulent practices.

He also commended Odunaiya for her dedication to transparency and anti-corruption reforms in pension administration.

Odunaiya, in her remarks, said the MoU underscores PTAD’s determination to ensure accountability in the DBS.
“This agreement will enhance our ability to prevent, detect, and prosecute corruption-related offences in the pension system while advancing integrity and good governance in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” she stated.
