Police Issue Warning Against The Use Of 2024 Viral Slogan ‘No Gree For Anybody

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has cautioned young Nigerians about employing the widely circulated 2024 slogan “No gree for anybody.”
This warning was conveyed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, during the parade of 67 suspects involved in various crimes at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.
Adejobi emphasized that the Police had received intelligence indicating that the slogan has the potential to incite chaos and violence across the country.
Describing it not as a mere phrase but a perilous slogan, he expressed concern that it could lead Nigeria into a crisis of monumental proportions.
“The new slogan for 2024 for young people is ‘no dey gree for anybody.’ We have been informed from our intelligence that this is coming from the retributionary sector that might likely cause problems across the country.
‘No dey gree for anybody’ is being seen as just normal talk. In the security community, we have seen it as a very dangerous slogan that can trigger crises,” warned Adejobi.
It is noteworthy that the viral slogan for 2024 conveys the idea of standing firm by one’s convictions and resisting yielding easily to others.
While not a new slang, its resurgence has been linked to a gospel song titled ‘I No Go Gree’ by Sister Agatha Moses from the album ‘Thank you.’ An Igbo variant, ‘Kwechiri,’ has also gained popularity on social media.
Several other slangs, such as ‘Dey Play,’ ‘No Evidence,’ ‘E don Cast,’ ‘Sapa,’ ‘E Choke,’ and ‘Japa,’ have gained widespread usage on and off the Internet in recent times.
