The presidential aspirant of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has empathized with former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice who are facing trial over alleged child trafficking and human organ harvest.
The couple was arrested at the Heathrow Airport on Tuesday in the presence of protocol officials from the Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom. They risk charges bordering on organ harvesting, which attracts a 10-year jail term. Their daughter, Sonia, requires a kidney transplant but an attempt to get a donor went awry.
Reacting to the incident, the former Anambra Governor empathized with the Ekweremadus, praying for their daughter’s healing and justice served accordingly. “My family and I are with the Ekweremadu’s over their travail. We join all men of goodwill in praying for the healing of their daughter and commit them into God’s hand for justice to be done. –PO,” he tweeted.
