Dafe Akpofure, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Delta State, has criticized Senator Dino Melaye and former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, blaming them for the party’s poor performance in the 2023 elections.
Akpofure’s remarks come at a time when the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) is striving to recover and restructure the party.
“Senator Dino Melaye and Atiku Abubakar’s selfish interests and actions have brought our great party to its knees,” Akpofure declared. “Their treachery and betrayal have cost us dearly, and it’s time for them to take responsibility for their actions.”
Akpofure specifically accused Melaye of misusing party funds for personal benefits and criticized Atiku for prioritizing his presidential ambition over the party’s collective success. He expressed concern that the damage caused by these individuals is making it difficult for the NWC to rebuild and rebrand the party.
“The NWC is trying to rebuild and rebrand the party, but it’s an uphill task due to the damage caused by these individuals,” Akpofure said. “We need to learn from our mistakes and move forward, but we cannot do that with traitors like Melaye and Atiku still lurking around.”Akpofure’s statements underscore the deep-seated divisions within the PDP, as the party grapples with an existential crisis and looks for ways to regain its footing.
