Former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has ruled out any interest in returning to the Presidential Villa, insisting that Nigeria’s challenges are overwhelming and her peace of mind is more important than political power.
Speaking in an interview, Mrs Jonathan said:
“The problems in Nigeria are too much. If God helps you leave that situation, you should thank Him. Why should I want to go back there? I need peace, and my peace is enough.”
Her remarks come amid mounting pressure on former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential election.
Recently, presidential aide Bayo Onanuga cautioned Jonathan against yielding to such calls, reminding him of his defeat in the 2015 polls.
Although speculation persists that Jonathan may return under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the former president has yet to declare any political ambition for 2027.
