Ozigbo Accuses Soludo of Secretly Backing APC Candidate to Destabilize Party

Valentine Ozigbo, a former governorship aspirant in the Anambra APC primary, has accused Governor Chukwuma Soludo of covertly funding Senator Nicholas Ukachukwu’s campaign to weaken the APC ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election.

Ozigbo, who lost to Ukachukwu in the April 5 primary, voiced his frustration on Channels Television’s Politics Today, calling the primary a sham and alleging Soludo’s interference. “Soludo is funding Nicholas to weaken the APC,” Ozigbo claimed, challenging both men to publicly swear to the contrary.

He also criticized Ukachukwu’s political record and questioned his relevance, saying, “Who is Nicholas Ukachukwu? He has never won anything meaningful, yet he keeps appearing at every election.”

Ukachukwu dismissed Ozigbo’s comments as sour grapes, noting Ozigbo’s late entry into the race. Ozigbo has since filed a petition with the APC Appeals Committee alleging massive irregularities, including vote manipulation and flawed accreditation, which he described as “a well-orchestrated heist.”

Despite the setback, Ozigbo pledged to remain in the APC, vowing to fight the alleged injustice from within the party.

The APC primary saw Ukachukwu clinch 1,455 votes, Ozigbo 67, and other aspirants trailing behind. Meanwhile, Governor Soludo emerged unopposed in APGA, and the Labour Party selected George Moghalu as its candidate for the November poll.
