Oyo State to Enforce Traffic, Waste, and Street Trading Laws as Makinde Boosts Youth Entrepreneurship

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to upholding traffic, waste management, and street trading regulations after extensive public sensitization over the past 18 months. According to Section 6 of the Oyo State Roadmap for Sustainable Development 2023-2027, the enforcement plan is rooted in Makinde’s emphasis on the rule of law.

In a newsletter issued on Friday, Governor Makinde announced that enforcement actions against violators of these laws would soon commence, ensuring the public is well-prepared. He highlighted the involvement of the Rule of Law Authority in implementing these measures alongside existing agencies, urging residents to support the process. “It is essential to inform our people that we will enforce these laws, so our actions are not perceived as abrupt,” Makinde noted.

In addition, Makinde introduced a financial initiative aimed at empowering youth entrepreneurship. He pledged N500 million for young entrepreneurs trained in Nasarawa State under the Youth Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness Project (YEAP). First City Monument Bank (FCMB) will contribute another N1 billion to the program, bringing the total funding to N1.5 billion.

Governor Makinde also addressed citizens’ inquiries on various projects. Responding to questions about YEAP updates and Samuel’s inquiry regarding the intra-city rail project, he reassured residents of his administration’s support. “We will be providing enterprise support for YEAP beneficiaries next month, with our administration offering N500 million, supplemented by an additional N1 billion from FCMB,” he confirmed.
