Oyo State Enrolls 10,000 Vulnerable Pupils in Free Health Insurance Scheme

The Oyo State government has enrolled 10,000 vulnerable pupils in its health insurance scheme at no cost, ensuring they receive improved healthcare services.

The initiative was officially launched on Thursday at Idi Ape, Ibadan. Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal, described the program as a landmark effort to enhance healthcare access for disadvantaged children in the state.

Celine Lafourierne, a representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), commended the Makinde-led administration for prioritizing children’s health. She stressed that health insurance is a fundamental right for every child.

Dr. Sola Akande, Executive Secretary of the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency, assured beneficiaries that they would receive timely and quality healthcare at accredited hospitals.

Teachers and pupils from selected schools lauded the initiative, expressing optimism that it would significantly reduce health challenges among vulnerable children.
