The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has celebrated the adoption of Bola Oyebamiji as its consensus candidate for the 2026 governorship election, with party stalwart Abiola Ogundokun declaring that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s chances of securing a second term are effectively over.
Speaking in Osogbo on Saturday, Ogundokun described Oyebamiji, a former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), as a unifying choice for the party, praising the smooth consensus process overseen by Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.
“With Oyebamiji’s emergence as the APC candidate, the Adeleke administration’s days are numbered. Any attempt to push for a second term would be a futile exercise,” Ogundokun said, urging Adeleke’s supporters to accept the party’s decision.
He commended Oyetola for his calm and foresighted leadership, noting that internal dialogue, fairness, and constructive criticism ensured party cohesion prevailed. Ogundokun also lauded all aspirants for prioritising party supremacy over individual ambitions.
Highlighting the APC’s achievements under President Bola Tinubu and the previous Oyetola administration, Ogundokun pointed to improving fuel supply, ongoing infrastructure projects, increased funding for education and health, and strengthened security as reasons for public confidence in the party.
Looking ahead, he said the APC’s primary focus is to reclaim Osun State and deliver tangible dividends of democracy to residents, positioning Oyebamiji as the candidate to lead that transformation.
