Ogun Governor Directs Security Agencies To Uncover Assailants Of Slain Accountant

 

The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has instructed security agencies to apprehend those responsible for the killing of Taiwo Oyekanmi, the late Director of Finance and Accounts in the Office of the Governor, who was attacked by gunmen in Abeokuta.
Recall Oyekanmi had collected money from a Fidelity Bank branch in Abeokuta and was en route to the office when the gunmen ambushed him. Approximately five hooded assailants intercepted the homemade bullion van on the overhead bridge in the Kuto area, firing at the accountant, breaking the van’s door, and escaping with the money.
While Oyekanmi and other aides with gunshot injuries were taken to General Hospital, Ijaye, the accountant later succumbed to his injuries.
Governor Abiodun expressed devastation and extreme shock over the incident, emphasizing the need for prayers for the late director’s immediate family in an official statement signed by his spokesman, Lekan Adeniran.
The statement reads in part: “I was devastated and extremely shocked upon receiving the cold-blooded murder of Oyekanmi in the hands of criminal elements and enemies of our state.
“It is indeed a colossal loss for our administration to have lost such a dedicated, truthful and diligent official. His assailants have murdered sleep and will be flushed out immediately from wherever they may be hiding.
“I have directed all security agencies in the state to smoke the criminals out instantly and make them face the full wrath of the law. I, therefore, want to assure the entire workforce and residents in the state that never will such calamity befall our dear state again.”
Meanwhile the Ogun State governor Dapo Abiodun, paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Director of Finance and Administration at the Governor’s Office, Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi, on Thursday.
Sharing pictures from the visit on his Facebook page, the governor noted that his administration will not rest until those responsible for his tragic death are apprehended.
He wrote, “While paying a condolence visit to the residence of the late Director of Finance and Administration at the Governor’s Office, Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi, I took the opportunity to convey my deepest sympathies to his family and the people of our state.
“It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the untimely passing of Mr. Oyekanmi, a diligent, hardworking, and humble individual who dedicated his life to serving not only his job but also his faith in God.
“The sudden loss of Mr. Oyekanmi has left the entire state workforce in mourning. I want to assure you that my administration will not rest until those responsible for his tragic death are apprehended and justice is served.
“I firmly believe that it is our duty to take complete responsibility for the welfare and well-being of the family he left behind.
“Rest assured, we will spare no effort in our quest to bring these criminals to justice. Every possible avenue will be explored, and no stone will be left unturned until the perpetrators of this heinous crime are apprehended and dealt with accordingly.
