Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has affirmed his integrity as a public official, declaring that he cannot be accused of corruption.
He made this statement on Thursday at the Michael Okpara Leadership Lecture and Award 2024, held at the Musa Yar’ Adua Centre in Abuja.
Governor Uzodinma called on public officeholders to live within their legitimate means and steer clear of corrupt practices, attributing widespread corruption in Nigeria to the excessive pursuit of wealth and a lack of discipline.
In his lecture titled, *”Service Above Others; Lessons from the Leadership Philosophy of Michael Okpara,”* Governor Uzodinma stressed the need for political leaders to adopt the values of the late Premier of Eastern Nigeria, Michael Okpara, to create a more prosperous nation.
The governor also announced that the rehabilitation of the Egbema power plant is on schedule and will be completed and commissioned by the first quarter of 2025. He emphasized the importance of the project, which will ensure a consistent 24-hour electricity supply across Imo State.
The event was attended by other prominent figures, including Cross River State Governor Prince Bassey Otu, Ebonyi State Deputy Governor Patricia Obila, former First Lady Patience Jonathan, and current and former lawmakers.
