Nigeria to Host First-Ever International Airshow in 2025, Aims to Transform African Aviation

Nigeria is set to host its first-ever international airshow in April 2025, marking a landmark moment for the country’s aviation industry. The event, which will take place in Lagos, is expected to attract major global aviation figures and industry leaders. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, announced the airshow at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, emphasizing its role in positioning Nigeria as a key player in Africa’s aviation sector.

“This international airshow will showcase some of the biggest names in global aviation, providing a platform to explore new opportunities in the sector,” Keyamo said. “Our goal is to establish Nigeria as the next major aviation hub in Africa, capitalizing on our strategic advantages.”

The event is designed to align with Africa’s major aviation policies, including the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), both of which aim to promote unrestricted trade and streamline air travel across the continent.

The Nigerian International Airshow, a local company responsible for organizing the event, is working closely with the Ministry of Aviation. Bria Okonkwo Williams, CEO of the company, confirmed that preparations are progressing smoothly and that between 150 and 200 companies are expected to participate. “We are committed to delivering a world-class event that will make Nigeria proud,” Williams said. The government sees the airshow as an essential step in attracting investment, fostering partnerships, and contributing to the sustainable growth of aviation across Africa.
