NFF Commences Search for New Super Eagles Head Coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has commenced the quest for a new head coach for the Super Eagles, following the departure of Jose Peseiro from the role about two weeks ago.
Peseiro, who guided Nigeria to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in February, exited the position after 22 months at the helm of the Super Eagles.
Since his departure following the running down of his contract, there have been speculations about an interim coach being appointed for the team. But the football body on Friday officially launched the search for Peseiro’s successor and has called for applications to fill the prestigious role.
In an announcement posted on its website, the NFF invited passionate and qualified football coaches to apply for the position of head coach of the Senior Men’s National Team, the Super Eagles.
“Attention passionate and proven football coaches! The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is looking for a visionary leader to take the helm of our Senior Men’s National Team, the mighty Super Eagles!” the NFF wrote on its website.
“This is your chance to lead a team steeped in history and guide them towards even greater glory on the international stage. Are you ready to answer the call?”
It listed the criteria to coach the three-time African champions to include having the right qualifications, a winning mentality, elite experience, and a focus on Africa.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make history with Nigerian football. If you’re a coach who thrives on pressure and dreams of etching your name in footballing lore, we want to hear from you!” the post read.
Interested and qualified applicants are instructed to submit their resumes to jobs@thenff.com by March 12, according to the NFF.
In addition to the search for a new Super Eagles head coach, the NFF is also seeking a leader for the U-17 male team, commonly referred to as the Golden Eaglets, offering a chance for coaches to contribute to the development of young talents and leave a lasting impact on Nigerian football.
“Being the Head Coach of the Golden Eaglets is more than just a job; it’s a chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of young footballers and contribute to the legacy of Nigerian football,” the NFF said. “Ready to take the next step?”
