The Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has highlighted the necessity of fully implementing the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025 (FCSSIP25). Speaking at a one-day Management Retreat on FCSSIP25 in Abuja, Umahi, represented by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Yakubu Adams Kofarmata, affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to spearheading the initiative and supporting the Federal Government’s policies and programs.
In a statement from M.A. Ahmed, the Ministry’s Director of Press, Umahi emphasized the Ministry’s dedication to embracing reform initiatives, including digital transformation, staff performance evaluations, capacity building, and the institutionalization of the Innovation Competition to harness employee potential.
During her welcome address, Mrs. Charlotte Ibekwe, Director of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement, stated that the retreat aimed to educate Heads of Departments about their roles in achieving FCSSIP25’s objectives. She mentioned several key initiatives, including the Ministerial Innovation Challenge, the Development Partners’ Conference on Innovation, and the Annual Reward and Recognition ceremony.
Dr. Deborah Odoh, representing the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, delivered a goodwill message praising the Ministry of Works for its successes in implementing FCSSIP25 reforms, such as Performance Management Systems and digitalization. Dr. Odoh encouraged the Ministry to maintain its leadership in these reforms and introduced the new Service Change Song as a symbol of professionalism and accountability for the workforce.
Dr. Dasuki Arabi, Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, also urged the Ministry to persist in its reform efforts to enhance service delivery and promote good governance.
