Military Warns Asari Dokubo, Urges Caution Over Provocative Remarks

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has issued a stern warning to former militant leader Asari Dokubo, advising him to temper his provocative statements or be prepared to face the full force of the Nigerian military. During a media briefing in Abuja, Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, challenged Dokubo to “enter the battlefield” if he believes he can confront the military.

The warning comes in response to a viral video in which Dokubo alleged that helicopters hovered over his residence, which he interpreted as provocation from the government and allies of former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike. Dokubo threatened to shoot down the helicopters, holding the government responsible for any subsequent actions.

General Buba countered Dokubo’s claims, reminding him that while the military’s focus remains on fighting terrorists, any attempt by Dokubo to escalate tensions would be met with swift and decisive action. He highlighted the military’s ongoing success in combating terrorism, noting the elimination of over 300 terrorist commanders and the recovery of significant weapons in recent operations.
