Military Eliminates Notorious Terrorist Kingpins in Zamfara

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has confirmed the elimination of two notorious terrorist leaders, identified as Kachalla Gwammade and Kachalla Shehu, in a military operation in Zamfara State.

Musa made the announcement on Friday during the closing ceremony of the CDS Joint Task Force Commanders Conference.

According to military sources, the operation was executed by troops stationed at Hannu Tara camp along the Magami–Dan Sadau Highway, in collaboration with local vigilantes. Six armed criminals were neutralized in the intense gun battle, with security forces recovering three motorcycles and several firearms.

Kachalla Gwammade, a key terror commander based in Chabi Village, northeast of Maru Local Council, was linked to the late warlord Kachalla Sani Black, who was recently eliminated in a military crackdown.

The successful operation is part of intensified efforts to combat terrorism in Zamfara and the broader North West region. Speaking at the conference, General Musa praised the armed forces for their resilience and emphasized the importance of collaboration between security agencies.

“This event has allowed us to reflect on our collective efforts and challenges in addressing national security threats. It has also led to the development of practical measures to strengthen cooperation among the armed forces and other security agencies in defense of our nation,” Musa stated.
