Between September 2017 and June 2021, two hundred and five cases of monkey pox were confirmed in Nigeria. According to virologist Oyewale Tomori, 2022 number of cases is likely to be an under representation because many people have been avoiding healthcare facilities for fear of contracting covid-19.
