Man United Shock Arsenal 3–2 at Emirates, Dent Title Hopes

Manchester United stunned Premier League leaders Arsenal on Sunday with a thrilling 3–2 victory at the Emirates Stadium, making it two wins from two for caretaker manager Michael Carrick.

The defeat marked Arsenal’s first home loss of the season and saw their lead at the top of the table cut to four points, following wins by title rivals Manchester City and Aston Villa.

Arsenal started brightly and took the lead in the 29th minute when United defender Lisandro Martinez inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.

However, the hosts handed United a route back into the contest when Martin Zubimendi’s loose pass released Bryan Mbeumo, who calmly rounded goalkeeper David Raya and slotted into an empty net to level the score.

United stunned the home crowd shortly after the restart, going ahead five minutes into the second half through a superb strike from Patrick Dorgu, whose powerful effort crashed in off the underside of the crossbar.

Arsenal pushed for an equaliser, but United sealed the win late on when substitute Matheus Cunha produced a moment of brilliance, curling a spectacular long-range effort into the net to cap a dramatic five-goal encounter.

The result dealt a significant blow to Arsenal’s title ambitions, while Manchester United continued their impressive resurgence under Carrick. Fresh from last weekend’s derby victory over Manchester City, United’s latest win sees them leapfrog Liverpool into fourth place in the league standings.
