It was a super Sunday in English football as Stamford Bridge hosted a thrilling London derby between Chelsea and Arsenal. Despite being reduced to 10 men after Moises Caicedo’s first-half red card, Chelsea held Premier League leaders Arsenal to a 1-1 draw.
Chelsea, eager to end a seven-year home winless streak against the Gunners, took the lead early in the second half. Trevoh Chalobah flicked a Reece James corner past goalkeeper David Raya with a near-post header. Arsenal responded when Bukayo Saka delivered a precise cross for Mikel Merino to head in the equalizer.
The Gunners were missing first-choice centre-backs William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, and accumulated six bookings, including four in a stormy first half. Chelsea’s spirited display earned them a deserved point, keeping the gap at six points behind Arsenal, though plenty of matches remain in the season.
Elsewhere, Liverpool’s Isak scored his first Premier League goal in a 2-0 win over relegation-threatened West Ham, while Manchester City moved into second place after a narrow victory against Leeds United.
