The Lagos State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of nominees recommended for the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) and other key state agencies. The confirmation was announced on Tuesday by Mojisola Meranda, the deputy speaker of the assembly, highlighting the legislature’s dedication to strengthening governance and ensuring quality leadership in the state.
The confirmed nominees for LASIEC include Justice Okikiolu Ighile (rtd.) as chairman, with Mr. Samson Ajibade, Dr. Oluwo Durojaiye, Dr. Olumide Metilelu, Dapo Aileru, and Mr. Oladele Adekanye all confirmed as members.
In addition to LASIEC, the assembly also approved nominations for several other significant positions. Adetola Muyiwa John was confirmed as the state auditor-general, Kamaldeen Abiodun-Balogun as the general manager of the Lagos State Electricity Board (LSEB), and Feyisayo Alayande as executive secretary of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF).
Meranda stated that these confirmations followed thorough screenings conducted by a 12-member ad-hoc committee, led by Mojeed Fatai, the house’s chief whip. Fatai noted that the committee reviewed the credentials and experiences of each nominee, affirming their qualifications to hold public office.
