Kwankwaso Will Return as APC Prepares to ‘Bury’ NNPP — Ganduje

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, says former Kano governor and 2023 NNPP presidential candidate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is on the verge of rejoining the ruling party.

Speaking at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday during a visit by members of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Ganduje declared that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) is no longer politically relevant.

“The NNPP is dead. And it will soon be buried—very, very soon. I’m looking at where we will bury the body. The coffin has already been constructed. What remains now is to dig the grave. And already they are digging the grave,” Ganduje said.

He indicated that Kwankwaso, who served as NNPP’s national leader, would be welcomed back into the APC fold if he decides to return. “If he says after losing everyone, he wants to come back to us, we will welcome him, because he is coming back home,” he added.

Ganduje also dismissed recent coalition talks among opposition leaders aimed at challenging President Bola Tinubu in 2027, predicting the effort would soon collapse. He urged support groups to remain loyal to the APC and assured them of full recognition in the party’s affairs.

As part of preparations for the November 8 Anambra governorship election, Ganduje inaugurated six-member reconciliation committees for each of the three senatorial districts in the state. He tasked the committees with resolving internal party disputes and strengthening APC’s position ahead of the polls.

The committee members are:

  • Anambra North: Engr. Nelson Onubogu, Sen. Margery Okadigbo, Sen. Stella Oduah, Sen. Emma Anosike, Dr. Obidigbo, and Mrs. Franca Obiesie.
  • Anambra South: Sir Azuka Okwuosa, Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo, Engr. JohnBosco Onunkwo, Hon. Edozie Madu, Chief Innocent Obi, and Lady Chibogwu Benson-Oraelos.
  • Anambra Central: Obi Onwuachu, Chief Chibuzo Obiakor, Chief Kodilichukwu Okelekwe, Lady Ify Nwachukwu, and Sen. Uche Ekwunife.

Ganduje charged APC members in Anambra to put aside their differences and rally behind the reconciliation effort to position the party for electoral victory.
