Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has characterized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a “dead party” and criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for being out of touch with the harsh economic realities faced by Nigerians. He made these statements during the NNPP’s National Executive Committee meeting on Monday.

Despite the challenges facing his party, Kwankwaso asserted that the NNPP is currently the fastest-growing political movement in Nigeria. “I’m proud to say that, despite all the hurdles, our party is expanding rapidly. I recall commissioning our state office in Katsina and pointing out that the PDP was a dead party, and it’s clear now that the party is falling apart,” he said.

Kwankwaso noted that many within the PDP failed to recognize the internal struggles that have now become evident. “At the time, they may not have seen what was coming, but today, I’m sure they will agree that the party is in pieces,” he remarked. Shifting his focus to the APC, Kwankwaso expressed disappointment with the party’s performance, stating that its leadership is disconnected from the populace. “The APC leadership is up there in the air, while the citizens are on the ground, grappling with dire issues like security, widespread poverty, and hunger,” he stated.

He emphasized that while the APC may perceive itself as successful, the reality especially regarding security and poverty paints a very different picture that is increasingly leaving voters dissatisfied.
