Kogi Government Denies Governor Ododo’s Alleged Defection to PDP

The Kogi State government has dismissed rumors that Governor Usman Ododo plans to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following a viral photo showing him with PDP governors.
The image, posted by Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Fintiri on X, depicted Ododo, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), dressed similarly to PDP colleagues, sparking online speculation.
Kingsley Fanwo, Kogi’s Commissioner for Information and Communication, clarified that the photo was taken at the wedding of the daughter of Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas. Fanwo emphasized that Ododo remains loyal to the APC, stating, “It is unintelligent to insinuate that the governor is abandoning the party that supported him throughout his electioneering and legal battles.”
Fanwo accused those spreading rumors of attempting to undermine Ododo’s loyalty to the APC, particularly in light of recent Supreme Court rulings that upheld his election victory, dismissing challenges from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Action Alliance (AA). Fanwo reassured Kogi residents that Governor Ododo remains committed to the APC and its policies at both state and national levels.
