Knicks Look to Extend NBA Finals Lead as Series Returns to Madison Square Garden

The New York Knicks will host the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, aiming to move one step closer to their first championship in more than five decades.

New York enters the matchup with a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series after the Spurs claimed a hard-fought 115-111 victory in Game 3.

The game is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. EDT at Madison Square Garden, with oddsmakers listing the Knicks as 1.5-point favorites. The over/under is set at 216.5 points.

San Antonio was powered by Victor Wembanyama in the most recent meeting, as the star forward scored 32 points to help the Spurs cut into New York’s series advantage. Knicks guard Jalen Brunson matched that total with 32 points in the losing effort.

The Knicks have been one of the league’s hottest teams during the postseason, winning nine of their last 10 games. During that stretch, New York has averaged 115.6 points, 45.6 rebounds and 26.2 assists per game while holding opponents to just 102.2 points.

San Antonio enters Game 4 with a 5-5 record over its last 10 contests, averaging 110.3 points and 46.1 rebounds per game while allowing opponents to score 108.4 points.

The Knicks have been particularly strong at home this season, posting a 30-10 record and demonstrating an ability to close out tight contests, going 9-4 in games decided by three points or fewer.

The Spurs, meanwhile, have excelled on the road with a 30-12 record away from home. San Antonio ranks among the league’s best rebounding teams, averaging 47 rebounds per game, led by Wembanyama’s 11.5 boards per contest.

New York has relied heavily on its perimeter shooting throughout the season, averaging 14.2 made three-pointers per game. That figure slightly exceeds the 13.0 three-pointers per game allowed by the Spurs.

San Antonio enters the contest shooting 48.3 percent from the field this season, outperforming the 46.0 percent shooting mark typically allowed by New York’s defense.

Brunson continues to lead the Knicks offensively, averaging 26 points and 6.8 assists per game. Reserve guard Landry Shamet has also provided valuable scoring punch, averaging 2.4 made three-pointers over the last 10 games.

For the Spurs, De’Aaron Fox is averaging 18.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, while Julian Champagnie has contributed consistent outside shooting, averaging 2.8 made three-pointers over the last 10 contests.

The Knicks enter Game 4 with a clean injury report, while San Antonio will again be without David Jones Garcia, who remains sidelined for the season with an ankle injury.

With the series now shifting deeper into the Finals and the Spurs seeking to even the matchup, Wednesday’s contest could prove pivotal in determining the direction of the championship race.
