Kano Government Vows to Prosecute Instigators of Protest Violence

The Kano State government has pledged to hold accountable those responsible for the violence and destruction that disrupted the end of a protest against bad governance in the state.
Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo revealed this in an interview with BBC Hausa.
Gwarzo stated that some politicians with malicious intentions allegedly sponsored the unfortunate incident to destabilize the state. He said, “The government had credible intelligence and evidence that the politicians sponsored the incidents, and we are working diligently to ensure the masterminds and their foot soldiers who perpetrated the heinous acts are brought to justice. The government will not rest on its oars until all the masterminds and perpetrators are brought to book.”
He further disclosed that security agents have begun house-to-house search operations, recovering 40 to 50 percent of the stolen items, such as computers. He praised the cooperation of residents who provided credible information, aiding in the recovery of looted properties. Gwarzo also urged parents not to harbor stolen items in their homes.
Gwarzo appealed to the people of Kano State to remain patient and law-abiding as the government works to improve the situation. He noted that the curfew imposed would remain in place, with security personnel monitoring the situation and advising on the next steps.
The curfew will be relaxed only when authorities are convinced that the situation has stabilized. He concluded by urging parents to take responsibility for their children, preventing them from engaging in activities that lead to regrettable outcomes.
