Kaduna Assembly Commences Probe into Former Governor’s Financial Affairs

In response to public concerns, the Kaduna State House of Assembly has initiated an investigation into the financial activities and contractual responsibilities of the former administration led by Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
The adhoc committee assigned for this purpose has begun conducting fact-finding clarification sessions.
Behind closed doors at the House of Assembly complex, the committee commenced its inquiry with thorough discussions involving several key past and present government officials, particularly those who served during the tenure of Governor El-Rufai from May 29, 2015, to May 29, 2023.
Among the individuals summoned are Manzo Maigari, the former Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce; Thomas Gyang, the former Commissioner of Budget and Planning; Balaraba Aliyu, the Commissioner and Administrator of Zaria Metropolitan Authority; and Muktar Ahmed, the current Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning.
The Chairman of the committee and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Henry Danjuma, told reporters after the session that it provided valuable insights into various aspects of government operations, with the principal actors shedding light on critical areas for scrutiny and improvement.
He assured the people of the state that the committee is committed to transparency in its investigations.
The mandate of the adhoc committee includes conducting a comprehensive fact-finding mission into financial transactions, the status of executed contracts, loans, grants, and projects implemented from 2015 to 2023.
