Javier Tebas, the outspoken figure at the helm of La Liga, has been re-elected as the president of Spain’s top football divisions, the league said on Tuesday.
The 61-year-old, who previously resigned in November to pursue a fourth term, stood unopposed in the election.
Tebas initially assumed the La Liga presidency in April 2013 and secured re-election in 2016 and 2019.
“The Electoral Commission of the National Professional Football League (La Liga)… has agreed to the definitive proclamation of Mr. Javier Tebas Medrano as President of the National Professional Football League, for a period of four years,” La Liga said in a statement.
Renowned for centralizing TV rights negotiations and clashing with top clubs over various issues, Tebas continues his influential role in Spanish football.
