Israeli airstrikes across southern Lebanon on Tuesday killed at least 19 people, including women and children, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, as violence continued despite a fragile U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.
Lebanese officials said the dead included four women and three children.
The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the reported casualties or the individual strikes. However, it said that between Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon, Israeli forces targeted more than 25 Hezbollah infrastructure sites in southern Lebanon.
The latest escalation began on March 2, when Hezbollah launched rockets into Israel two days after the United States and Israel carried out strikes against Iran.
Lebanon’s government said one of the deadliest strikes hit the village of Deir Qanoun al Nahr in the coastal province of Tyre Governorate, killing 10 people, including three children and three women.
Three additional people, including a child, were wounded in the attack.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that the strike destroyed a residential building, trapping several people beneath the rubble before rescue crews later recovered their bodies.
According to the Health Ministry, another Israeli airstrike on the southern city of Nabatieh killed four people and wounded 10 others, including two women.
A separate strike in the nearby village of Kfar Sir killed five people, including one woman, officials said.
