Indiana Jones’ Iconic Fedora Sells for £487,000 at Auction

The iconic hat worn by Harrison Ford in the second Indiana Jones film has sold for nearly half a million pounds at auction. The brown felt fedora, specifically made for “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”, fetched $630,000 (£487,000) at a Los Angeles auction on Thursday.

The auction also featured other pieces of movie memorabilia, including props from “Star Wars”, “Harry Potter”, and “James Bond” films.

Indiana Jones, the adventurous archaeologist, is famously seen wearing the hat early in the movie during a dramatic scene where he and his companions escape from a crashing plane using an inflatable raft. The scene involves Jones, nightclub singer Willie Scott (played by Kate Capshaw), and his young friend Short Round (played by Ke Huy Quan) as they evade a Chinese crime gang.

The auction house noted that the hat was also used during additional photography at George Lucas’s visual effects studio.
