Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has announced plans to establish the Nasarawa State Facilities Management Agency to ensure the sustainability of the extensive infrastructure developments his administration is implementing.
The governor made this announcement during an induction and training ceremony organized by the Institute of Global Facilities Management for new members at the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa. Represented by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Abubakar Odah Akum, Governor Sule was honored with an Honorary Fellowship from the Institute.
During the event, the Institute’s President, Omachi Jonah, underscored the importance of creating a facilities management agency in Nasarawa State, similar to those already established in Kaduna and Lagos. He emphasized that such an agency would help monitor and maintain the infrastructure being developed, ensuring its longevity even after the governor’s tenure.
Jonah pointed out that the agency would play a crucial role in addressing the prevalent issue of poor maintenance culture in Nigeria. The commissioner, speaking on behalf of the governor, commended the initiative and affirmed the administration’s commitment to setting up the agency. He also expressed willingness to collaborate with the Institute, noting that their partnership would be essential in realizing the agency’s establishment.
