“I don’t have anything to do with the ADC” — Bukola Saraki

Former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki on Tuesday convened a closed-door meeting with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Ilorin, Kwara State, to dispel speculations about his involvement in the emerging opposition coalition reportedly led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The meeting, held at Saraki’s GRA residence, was aimed at addressing internal concerns and reinforcing party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing party members before the media was excused, Saraki said he felt obligated to clear the air on ongoing national political developments.

“You’ve all been observing what’s happening at the national level and you want to know the situation. I owe you that to come down and explain to you,” he said.
“You’re all aware of innuendoes making the rounds about what I know and what I don’t know. I believe I must come and let you hear from the horse’s mouth.”

Saraki firmly denied any affiliation with the ADC or the coalition talks, declaring that he neither participated in nor endorsed any move to join the group.

“I don’t have anything to do with the ADC and have not told anybody to join the coalition,” he stated.

Instead, the former Senate President urged party faithful to focus on the upcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise scheduled to begin August 18, 2025, calling it a strategic priority for the PDP as it prepares for the next elections.

In his remarks, PDP State Publicity Secretary Olushola Adewara cautioned members against external political engagements and reaffirmed unwavering support for Saraki’s leadership.

“In case you are invited by any coalition, shun such engagement. The PDP is one under our leader and former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, who has shown uncommon leadership in keeping the party united and focused on 2027,” Adewara said.

The meeting comes amid rising political realignments, defections, and coalition-building efforts across the country, as parties position themselves ahead of the next electoral cycle.
