Governor Ortom Calls For A National Dialogue On Security Again

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has again urged the Federal Government to summon a national summit to dialogue and address both the security and economic challenges facing the country.
The Governor expressed this on Sunday at the Chapel of Grace, Benue Peoples House, Makurdi during an Interdenominational Church Service to mark the end of Seven-day fasting and praying program organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in conjunction with Benue State Government.
According to Ortom, Nigeria may not move forward except there is a dialogue that would facilitate Nigerians to discuss the challenges facing them.
He praised the Christian community in the state for always giving him the needed support and encouragement to carry out the tasks assigned to him by Benue people and promised not to disappoint.
Governor Ortom noted the importance of fasting and prayers by the state chapter of CAN since the inception of his administration. While exhorting them to sustain the tempo, the governor said the state would have been overrun by enemies if not for their prayers.
Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria in the state, Reverend Akpen Leva charged the local government coordinators of the association to continue mobilization for prayers until the problems of the state were over.
Reverend Leva, who commended Governor Ortom for creating a conducive atmosphere for the unity of the Christian community, appealed to the local government chairmen to work closely with the church to enhance the progress of the State.
