Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has rejected accusations by the All Progressives Congress (APC) claiming he is plotting to obtain a controversial court judgment aimed at removing reinstated local government chairmen and inciting unrest in the state.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke described the allegation as baseless and an attempt to blackmail the judiciary. He further emphasized that the APC was attempting to avoid legal consequences for its unconstitutional occupation of local government secretariats.
Rasheed clarified that Governor Adeleke has not filed any lawsuits related to the local government crisis. Instead, the governor has directed PDP-aligned chairmen and councillors to maintain peace and uphold the law.
He also noted that the APC faces multiple lawsuits concerning the matter, including one from duly elected PDP chairmen under ALGON, another from the local government workers’ union (NULGE), and a third from the All Peoples Party (APP), accusing the APC of contempt for ignoring a court ruling that invalidated the Yes/No elections.
The statement concluded by urging the APC to focus on defending itself in court rather than dragging the governor into what it called their “self-inflicted” legal and political struggles.
