Gov. Adeleke Approves N75,000 Minimum Wage for Osun Civil Servants

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has approved a new minimum wage of N75,000 for civil servants in the state, marking a significant step towards improving workers’ welfare. The approval comes after a review of the report from the Public Service Negotiation Committee, which worked on the new wage structure.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, the new wage was described as a move towards enhancing the living standards of workers and promoting socio-economic development in the state. The N75,000 wage exceeds the N70,000 national minimum wage approved for federal workers, highlighting the state government’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of its civil servants.

The implementation of this wage increase is aligned with Governor Adeleke’s administration’s commitment to social justice, economic growth, and improved service delivery despite the state’s limited resources.

Governor Adeleke also urged civil servants in the state to enhance their productivity and service delivery, emphasizing the importance of transparency, accountability, and innovative solutions for the development of Osun State.

The process was overseen by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Kazeem Akinleye, while the labour team was led by Christopher Arapasopo, the chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in Osun. The NLC chairman expressed his appreciation for the wage increase, noting that it was carefully tailored to suit the state’s current economic conditions.

Governor Adeleke’s approval of the N75,000 minimum wage is seen as a significant step in boosting morale among civil servants and improving the efficiency of public service in the state.
