The former president of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan was on Tuesday in Kenya monitoring the presidential election.
The country anticipates a smooth transition of power after nearly ten years under President Uhuru Kenyatta, who served two terms.
Due to term limits, President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to step down when the election is over.
The two front-runners to succeed him are seasoned opposition leader Raila Odinga and current Deputy President William Ruto.
Kenyatta and Ruto had a falling out, and he now backs Odinga.
The three men took part in the 2007 election, although Ruto supported Odinga over Kenyatta’s boss at the time.
Due to their suspected involvement in violence, Kenyatta and Ruto were charged before the International Criminal Court; the cases were later dropped.
