Fubara Confident of 2027 Re-Election Amid Political Crisis in Rivers

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared that nothing can stop him from winning a second term in 2027 if he chooses to run.

His bold statement comes amid an ongoing political power struggle with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The rift has deepened divisions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, fueling an unresolved crisis in both the party and the state legislature.

Fubara made the remarks on Tuesday during a solidarity visit from representatives of the three Local Government Areas (LGAs) that make up the Kalabari Ethnic Nationality. The delegation endorsed him for re-election, citing his leadership style, commitment to governance, and infrastructural development.

One of the key projects highlighted during the visit was the ₦200 billion Trans-Kalabari road project, aimed at improving connectivity and economic growth in the riverine areas.

While acknowledging the endorsement, Fubara emphasized that his administration is focused on making a lasting impact, rather than just the length of time in office. He reassured Rivers residents of his commitment to policies and projects that will drive development and improve their welfare.
