Former Vice President Namadi Sambo has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a significant shift amid the deepening internal crisis within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Sambo, who served as Vice President under President Goodluck Jonathan from 2010 to 2015, was formally welcomed into the APC on Wednesday by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani during a brief ceremony held at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna.
His defection adds to the growing list of high-profile PDP members who have exited the party in recent months, including senators, federal lawmakers, and state officials. The wave of defections has been largely attributed to persistent leadership tussles and internal divisions within the PDP.
Political analysts view Sambo’s move as another blow to the PDP’s national cohesion, as the APC continues to consolidate power ahead of future electoral contests.
