Sean Dyche enjoyed a dream start as Nottingham Forest manager, guiding his side to a 2–0 victory over previously unbeaten Porto in the Europa League their first European triumph in three decades.
Appointed just two days earlier as Forest’s third manager of the season, Dyche oversaw the spirited performance at a jubilant City Ground, where Morgan Gibbs-White opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the first half to register the opening goal of the Dyche era.
Forest doubled their lead with another penalty after the break, sealing a historic win their first in Europe since November 1995 and snapping a 10-game winless streak across all competitions.
The hosts displayed renewed discipline and defensive solidity throughout, keeping a clean sheet and earning three vital Europa League points.
Dyche, a former Forest youth player, was warmly received by the home supporters, who celebrated the team’s revived energy and determination under his leadership.
Forest will aim to build on the momentum when they travel to face high-flying Bournemouth on Sunday.
