FG Announces Increase in Nigerian Passport Fees Effective September 2024

The Federal Government has approved a fee increase for Nigerian passports, set to take effect from September 1, 2024.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) spokesperson DCI Kenneth Udo announced the revision, which aims to uphold the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport.
Under the new fee structure, the cost for a 32-page passport booklet with a 5-year validity will rise from Thirty-Five Thousand Naira (N35,000.00) to Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00). Similarly, the fee for a 64-page passport booklet with a 10-year validity will increase from Seventy Thousand Naira (N70,000.00) to One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00).
The NIS clarified that these new fees will not apply to passports issued in the Diaspora. While acknowledging the potential inconvenience this adjustment may cause to applicants, the NIS emphasized its commitment to maintaining transparency and delivering high-quality service.
