FBI Uncovers New Allegations of Criminal Conduct by New York City Mayor Eric Adams

Federal prosecutors revealed in a court filing that the FBI has uncovered “additional criminal conduct” involving New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who is already facing charges in a five-count indictment accusing him of accepting luxury travel in exchange for political favors.

The disclosure came as prosecutors opposed a defense request for more details about the initial charges, including a list of alleged co-conspirators. In the filing, prosecutors stated that law enforcement has identified new individuals connected to Adams’s alleged activities and uncovered additional evidence of wrongdoing.

“Although the Indictment and discovery provide Adams with more than sufficient information as to his alleged co-conspirators and aiders and abettors, law enforcement has continued to identify additional individuals involved in Adams’s conduct, and to uncover additional criminal conduct by Adams,” the filing stated.

Prosecutors also suggested that as witnesses were identified, steps were taken to influence their testimony—a claim Adams has denied.

“I do not tell people to commit criminal actions,” Adams said in response to the allegations, directing further questions to his legal counsel. When pressed by reporters, Adams added, “Even Ray Charles can see what’s going on. I’ve said over and over again, I’ve done nothing wrong. Let the attorneys handle that. I have to run the city.”

Prosecutors hinted at the possibility of a superseding indictment, stating that additional charges are likely as the investigation progresses. Federal authorities have not yet elaborated on the nature of the newly uncovered conduct.

Adams’s defense attorney, Alex Spiro, criticized the prosecutors’ approach, accusing them of seeking headlines rather than pursuing justice. “Federal prosecutors are just looking for a headline instead of doing the right thing,” Spiro said on Tuesday.

As the case unfolds, the allegations of additional criminal conduct could escalate the legal challenges facing Mayor Adams, potentially reshaping the narrative around his tenure as New York City’s leader.
