Edo Advocacy Group Criticizes APC Governorship Candidate Over Insecurity Remark

A prominent socio-political group, Edolites For Peace and Progress has denounced Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, for a controversial statement in which he allegedly vowed to “bring insecurity” to Edo State. The remark, made during an APC rally ahead of the September 21 governorship election, has stirred widespread outrage.

In a viral video, Okpebholo is seen addressing supporters when he made the alarming statement. While some supporters have dismissed it as a slip of the tongue, Madam Adesua Odigie, leader of Edolites For Peace and Progress, expressed grave concern. Speaking at a press conference in Benin City, she stated, “This wasn’t a mistake; it reflects his intentions, which is alarming. A person who openly speaks about bringing insecurity has no place in leadership.”

Odigie further accused the APC of using insecurity as a political tactic in other regions and called on Edo citizens to reject Okpebholo’s candidacy to safeguard the state’s stability. “Edo State stands for peace and progress, and we cannot allow insecurity to take root in our land,” she declared.
