Edison Ehie Reveals N5 Billion Bribe Offer to Facilitate Governor’s Impeachment

Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff to suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has alleged that he was offered a N5 billion bribe to help facilitate the governor’s impeachment.

In an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Ehie revealed that he possesses concrete evidence of the bribe offer, which he stored on his mobile phone. He also mentioned distributing printed copies of the evidence to safeguard himself against potential retaliation.

“I can also open my phone to show you. In the beginning of October 2023, they approached me with a bribe of N5 billion. It is here in my phone,” Ehie stated.

“It was for impeachment. It’s here. I have it, and I have printed it and distributed it, in case, in their evil imagination, they decide to attack me. I already have a son and a brother,” he added.

Ehie explained that the bribe offer occurred during his tenure as the Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, which led to the declaration of a state of emergency on March 18, is linked to the power struggle between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
