DSS Sacks 115 Officers for Misconduct, Warns Against Impostors

The Department of State Services (DSS) has dismissed 115 officers as part of an ongoing internal reform aimed at promoting discipline, professionalism, and accountability within the agency.

In a statement posted on Tuesday via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, @OfficialDSSNG, the secret service explained that the dismissals followed a series of disciplinary actions against officers found guilty of various forms of misconduct.

“As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services (DSS), the public is hereby informed that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period,” the statement read.

The DSS also cautioned Nigerians to be wary of dismissed officers who still pose as active operatives, warning that some have been involved in fraudulent activities.
“In addition to earlier disclaimers on the duo of Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, the Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel,” it stated.

The agency urged the public to avoid any form of official engagement with the affected individuals and to always verify the identity of DSS operatives before any interaction. It further disclosed that the names of all dismissed officers have been published on the Service’s official website — www.dss.gov.ng/media/more/4 — for public reference.

“Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealing with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service,” the DSS added.

For further enquiries, the Service directed citizens to contact its Public Relations Department via 09088373515 or dsspr@dss.gov.ng.

The latest dismissals are part of a broader effort by the DSS to strengthen integrity, transparency, and discipline across Nigeria’s foremost intelligence agency.
