Dele Farotimi Declares Readiness for Legal Battle, Vows to Fight On

Embattled human rights activist and lawyer, Dele Farotimi, has expressed his readiness to face his ongoing trial with renewed determination.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Farotimi declared himself prepared to confront his challenges, likening his resolve to weapons sharpened and ready for battle.

“I am strong enough to rumble unruffled against principalities and powers,” he wrote. “But I am human enough to shed tears of joy in appreciation of the grace of God, expressed in the concerted efforts of fellow victims. My battle axes are newly sharpened, my guns primed; I am ready to war.”

Farotimi maintained that his resolve was never shaken and hinted at an upcoming phase in his fight. “The first round had been lost by those responsible for my imprisonment,” he added.

A Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti had previously granted Farotimi bail set at ₦30 million following allegations of defamation against Afe Babalola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD).

The activist was arrested on the charges but secured his release after meeting the bail conditions. Farotimi’s remarks signal his intention to vigorously defend himself in the legal battle ahead.
