Country Star Garth Brooks Faces Rape and Sexual Assault Allegations in New Lawsuit

Country music star Garth Brooks is facing accusations of rape, sexual assault, and battery in a lawsuit filed in California state court. The lawsuit, filed under the pseudonym “Jane Roe,” claims that Brooks assaulted the woman, who was employed as his hairstylist and makeup artist, during her tenure from 2017 to 2020.

The woman alleges that Brooks raped her in a hotel suite during a trip to Los Angeles for a Grammy tribute in May 2019. Additionally, the suit accuses Brooks of groping her, making sexually explicit remarks, and proposing a threesome involving his wife, fellow country star Trisha Yearwood.

Brooks has responded to the allegations, calling the lawsuit “extortion and defamation.” In a statement to the BBC, Brooks said the accusations were false and described them as an attempt to extort millions from him. He emphasized that paying “hush money” would be an admission of actions he did not commit, saying, “I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.”

The legal conflict began three weeks ago when Brooks, using anonymity, filed a pre-emptive lawsuit in Mississippi federal court, denying the accusations and calling them “revulsive and untrue.” His lawsuit also claimed the woman made these allegations after he refused her request for salaried employment and medical benefits.

The lawsuit against Brooks details additional allegations of inappropriate behavior, including repeated exposure, inappropriate text messages, and other sexual misconduct.

Brooks, a two-time Grammy winner and major figure in country music, is also known for his philanthropic efforts. His accuser’s lawsuit highlights his success, stating that he has sold over 162 million albums and is worth approximately $400 million.
