The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has reaffirmed his commitment to securing Nigeria while celebrating Eid-el-Fitr with wounded soldiers at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna.
During a Sallah Luncheon with injured personnel and troops deployed in 1 Division’s Area of Responsibility on Sunday, Oluyede—represented by Maj.-Gen. Abdul Ibrahim, Commander Infantry Corps—praised the soldiers’ sacrifices and assured them they had not been forgotten.
He highlighted the troops’ role in operations such as Operation Hadin Kai and Operation Fansanyamma in the northeast and northwest, crediting their resilience for recent security gains, particularly along the Kano-to-Abuja corridor.
“We are making significant gains in our operations and will continue until our country is fully secured,” he stated.
Maj.-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, described the security situation as volatile but improving, citing progress in securing the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari and Abuja-Kaduna routes.
Brig.-Gen. Godwin Ogoh, Acting Chief Medical Director of the hospital, expressed gratitude for the COAS’s commitment to soldiers’ welfare, emphasizing that the luncheon was a show of solidarity and appreciation for their sacrifices.
